The Initiatic Theurgic Tradition

The Order of Aurum Solis is an Initiatic society which transmits the Theurgic heritage of hermetism. This means that Aurum Solis is an occult organization whose principle function is that work which utilizes the magical principles of the Ogdoadic tradition. We will begin by discussing those principles which define the validity and the effectiveness of the Ogdoadic tradition’s work and transmission.

The first Principle is that there is a direct link, which reflects an unbroken lineage from the time of the earliest Grand Master, by which each new Grand Master of the tradition is charged with his office. In a Theurgic Order such ours, the office of the Grand Master is not the result of an election or the personal will of an assembly. The presiding Grand Master chooses his/her successor and transmits to him/her, during a specific initiation, the occult office of the Order. This is accomplished by connecting the New Grand Master with the unbroken golden chain of the Past Grand Masters. This linking process makes the chosen Grand Master able to assume the full power of his/ her office. The special rites of the Grand Master give him the ability to maintain the egregores of the Tradition in a living, active and dynamic state.

The second principle that establishes the legitimacy of the Ogdoadic tradition is the power to transmit and connect with the egregore of the Order. Those who are familiar with this kind of work recognize that an initiation must be coincident with an awakening of the consciousness of the initiate. His/Her connection with an egregore facilitates that process and protects the aspirant in his/her work. This capacity (the linking to an egregore that protects and aids in the evolution of consciousness), is a direct result of the active Initiatic chain of the Order. The act of Initiation of causes these changes to occur in the aspirant, (making that person part of the unbroken chain), so that (s)he is able to perform rites using a directly transmitted material basis, (such as the Tessera, of which we will speak in the next paragraph). Initiation manifests these changes in the aspirant. and links the aspirant to the golden chain.

The third principle, rooted in the Hermetic initiation, is that of the transmission of the "sacred objects" or more exactly, “consecrated objects". The Tessera, as a specific example of such a material basis, was made public by our Order. A presentation of one of the models was given in the public writings of the Order. These Tesseri constitute a direct link with the Mother Tessera and the heart of the Order; as such the Tessera forges another link for each new member to that unbroken occult chain which ensures the constant aid and protection of the egregore to each linked member of the Order. The construction and consecration of the sacred objects of the Order is specifically transmitted, and must always be made and consecrated according to precise steps and principles. These teachings have their origin in the writings of Iamblicus, Proclus, Apuleus and Marsilio Ficino.
